Consists of a copy of the message from the President of the United States to the two houses of congress published in 1867; a scrapbook of miscellaneous material kept by the Williams family, 1870; a scrapbook belonging to John Jay Williams regarding the Tennessee Mississippi Canal; newspaper clippings relating to the inauguration of Tennessee Governor James C. Jones, 1864. Also includes a speech on the Mexican War, 1847; a list of the burial of cholera victims in Nashville City Cemetery, 1840; and President Polk's report on the Mexican War.
